What a contrast between April and May by the footbridges along our trail.
We were ambling along the bridge at the top, the April bridge, when we saw a cyclist get off her bike and climb over the railing and down into the swamp.
I asked how it was going down there. She replied that she was concerned about the health of the turtle. She was especially interested because she had seen turtles mating just a day or two previously and even had a picture to show us, which I do not have to show you.
You can see it in the green grass on the other side ↑ of the water from where she was standing. If you can't see it there ↑ you can see it here ↓.
The critter bestirred itself after a while, so the young lady was content to leave both the swamp and the turtle.
She rode off and we walked on, and I assume that the turtle did not miss us.
What! No turtle porn! Oh shucks, my breakfast won't be the same now.
ReplyDeleteThe turtle was probably pondering about the lady who couldn't "read the room".

I love that she stopped to check.
ReplyDeleteA bit of turtle education would do well here. But that said, glad she didn't disturb the turtle by trying to move it or rescue it.
ReplyDeleteIt is so good to see turtles in the wild surviving.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see that people care. I love turtles.
ReplyDeleteNature changes colour slowly but beautifully!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, all the lush green - no wonder the turtles were taken by the "mood".
ReplyDeleteGreat contrasting photos!
ReplyDeleteThe contrast between the two pictures is amazing. Glad to hear the turtle was alright.
ReplyDeleteIt’s touching how closely she was observing the turtles—her concern and attentiveness reveal a quiet care for the life unfolding around her.
ReplyDeleteI am never sure what turtles are feeling. We used to do rescues; the grandkid would stash turtles she found on the road in distress in her grandpa's truck body and then she and grandpa would transport them to our pond, far away from any road, to recover. I am not sure the turtles appreciated their rescue much, but it is hard to read any expression on their faces.
ReplyDeleteYeah, right.
We also have leaves. Lots and lots of them.
Tourists! sniffed the turtle. Can't a lady relax in the mud without exciting comment?
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great wetland.
ReplyDeleteThat was nice of her to be concerned. I get turtles and tortoises mixed up. Turtles are the water ones, right?
ReplyDeleteI love how moments like these remind us of the quiet beauty and care people have for nature. It’s a simple, gentle connection that feels so genuine—like a small shared secret on a walk. Thanks for sharing this thoughtful glimpse.
